On Wednesday, June 5th, the UCLA chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) hosted the 2024 Technical Projects Symposium showcasing BMES’s student-led projects. The BMES Technical Projects Build Team, Cell Team, Design Team, and Research Team all serve to give students hands-on, team-based engineering experience through a year-long project. Some projects from this year included investigation in multi-layered hydrogels for oral insulin delivery, exploration of the effects of microplastics on the body, and construction of a pulse oximeter.
Dr. Jennifer Wilson and Dr. Jaimie Marie Stewart served as judges for the Bioengineering Department awards. Several other Bioengineering faculty members, alumni, and industry professionals were in attendance.
